Free Belarusian visas for participants of 2016 Minsk Half Marathon

MINSK, 16 June (BelTA) – The participants of 2016 Minsk Half Marathon will get Belarusian visas free of charge, BelTA learned from the Belarus Athletic Federation.

“Official registration for the event will open on the website www.minskhalfmarathon.by on 20 June,” the Belarus Athletic Federation noted.

The marathon will take place in early September. Like in the past year, all participants will be invited to not only run a 21.097km-long half marathon, but also compete in 10km and 5km races. “We have a certified track for the main race that will run along the central streets of Minsk. All the competition routes will have entertainment zones, water and food stops for the racers,” the federation added.

Partaking in last year’s edition of Minsk Half Marathon were over 16,000 people from 36 countries. Each of them received a commemorative medal and a digital copy of a certificate bearing his name and result. Minsk Half Marathon has been certified as a five-star quality road race by European Athletics. The sports event also expects to make the list of IAAF Bronze Label Road Races, which will enable it to bid for the IAAF Gold Label. The organizers of Minsk Half Marathon said that last year’s winner Olga Mazuryonok will compete in the 2016 edition of the sports event. They added that she will represent Belarus at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
