Five-star Marriott Hotel to open in Minsk in early 2016

MINSK, 7 December (BelTA) – A five-star Minsk Marriott Hotel and the sport and entertainment complex Falcon Club will start working in early 2016. The information was released by Thani Abdulrahman Al Kuwari, Deputy for Financial Affairs of the Minister of State for Defense Affairs of Qatar, Director of the investment company Sokol in Belarus, during the press conference dedicated to the hotel’s pre-opening, BelTA has learned.

According to the source, the hotel will become fully operational in February 2016. Guests, however, will be able to book rooms as early as January 2016.

The executive underlined that the opening of the five-star Marriott hotel in Minsk will raise hospitality business standards in Belarus and will contribute to the advancement of Belarus-Qatar relations. According to Thani Abdulrahman Al Kuwari, the hotel will be a busy one thanks to the strong marketing strategy and the availability of prominent brands in the boutique centers that will be opened in the Falcon Club.

The Director of the investment company Sokol in Belarus also said that virtually $200 million has been invested in the project. The sum is supposed to be reached in 2016. He mentioned unfavorable weather conditions and considerable changes in the design documents among the reasons behind the protracted construction schedule.

At the end of the press conference the speaker thanked everyone involved in building the complex as well as representatives of Belarusian government agencies for cooperation.

The Minsk Marriott Hotel is located on the bank of the Svisloch River and offers 217 rooms with high-standard recreation opportunities, a mobile working zone and 24/7 service. Most of the rooms have panoramic windows and balconies overlooking the river. The design of all of them uses neutral colors and natural materials.

The hotel offers recreation opportunities via the Mediterranean cuisine restaurant Fornello, the rum Barrel Bar with a wide choice of exclusive alcohol beverages, the Marriott great room lobby, and the executive lounge for VIP guests. Apart from that, guests will be able to use eight conference halls and negotiation rooms, a transformable banquet hall able to seat 400 people, and a multifunctional hall for coworking. It is worth noting that the corridors and other premises of the hotel use Belarus-made materials.

The sports and recreation complex Falcon Club comprises a modern universal arena as large as 1,970m2 able to seat up to 3,500 people, a premium-class movie theater with eight halls, including a 4D (D-BOX) hall with Dolby Atmos 3D sound systems, modern Silver Screen systems and comfortable armchairs. The complex also has four tennis courts and six courts for squash, a spa center, a fitness club, a boutique center with retail outlets of 24 brands, a press center for 100 people, bars, and a cafe.
