FIBA Europe inspectors hail Minsk sport infrastructure

MINSK, 3 March (BelTA) – The FIBA Europe organizing committee of the 3x3 U18 European Championships 2015 that comprising FIBA Regional Director Europe Kamil Novak and FIBA Europe 3on3 Manager Robert Rieblinger paid a working visit to Minsk, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Sport and Tourism Ministry of Belarus.

FIBA Regional Director Europe Kamil Novak expressed satisfaction with the constructive dialogue with representatives of the Sport and Tourism Ministry and the Belarusian Basketball Federation as well as of the sport and urban infrastructure in Minsk.

During the meeting at the Sport and Tourism Ministry of Belarus First Deputy Minister Alexander Gagiyev noted that the Belarusian side appreciates highly the FIBA Europe’s decision to award Belarus with the right to host the continental sport forum.

“Belarus has a rich experience in hosting sport events of various levels. Basketball enjoys great popularity in our country and I am confident that youth 3on3 competitions will draw numerous fans and will be held at a high organizational level,” Alexander Gagiyev stressed.

On 2 March the FIBA Europe inspectors met with First Vice President of the National Olympic Committee, Chairman of the Belarusian Basketball Federation Maxim Ryzhenkov. The parties discussed the regulations for the European youth competitions and discussed the terms of conducting the tournament.

The 2015 men's and women's 3x3 U18 European Championships will take place in the Belarusian capital Minsk on 21-23 August 2015.

Belarus plans a number of nationwide 3x3 basketball tournaments and festivals ahead of the tournament.
