MINSK, 29 June (BelTA) – For the first time, Minsk residents and visitors have been provided with an opportunity to see items from the collection of the Nikola Tesla Museum in Belgrade, Serbia. The exhibits went on display at the Minsk Town Hall on 29 June. The exhibition is running as part of the Days of Belgrade in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

The inventions that made Nikola Tesla a world-famous scientist and engineer will be showcased in the Belarusian capital for three days. The exhibition features an induction motor which enables wireless transmission of electricity.

The opening of the exhibition was attended by Minsk Mayor Andrei Shorets, Belgrade Mayor Sinisa Mali, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Serbia to Belarus Veljko Kovacevic. The cultural project has been organized on the initiative of the Serbian side by the Nikola Tesla Museum in Belgrade jointly with the Secretariat for Culture of the Serbian capital.

“For the first time, Minsk residents have been provided with an opportunity to get acquainted with inventions of the eminent scientist Nikola Tesla. Some of the exhibits are displayed in motion. Of great interest also is the exhibition about the history of the Serbian capital set up near the Minsk Town Hall. It shows that Minsk and Belgrade have a lot in common. We hope that these exhibitions will promote the cooperation between the Minsk City History Museum and the Nikola Tesla Museum,” said Galina Ladisova, the director of the museum of the history of the Belarusian capital.

The opening ceremony was followed by the screening of a short film about Nikola Tesla.

Andrei Shorets and Sinisa Mali also opened a chess tournament near the town hall, played a simultaneous match with young talents, and visited a fair of goods by Serbian craftsmen.
