Exhibition dedicated to former Belarus Ambassador Vladimir Grigoriev opens in Moscow

MOSCOW, 2 December (BelTA) – An exhibition dedicated to the life and work of Belarus’ former Ambassador to Russia Vladimir Grigoriev opened in the business and cultural center of the Belarusian Embassy in Moscow, BelTA learned from the press service of the diplomatic mission.

The exhibition features photographs, documents, awards, materials about major periods of life of Vladimir Grigoriev from the Soviet time to the later period when he served as Belarus’ Ambassador to Russia in 1997-2006. His name is associated with the innovative achievements in economic and social development of the Brest and Vitebsk regions of Belarus. It was his idea to hold the Slavonic Bazaar in Vitebsk Festival and to build the business and cultural center of the Belarusian Embassy in Moscow.

Opening the exhibition, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Belarus to Russia Igor Petrishenko noted that Vladimir Grigoriev’s active and fruitful activity contributed to the development of the entire spectrum of the Russian-Belarusian interstate relations. "Many of his ideas and plans are now reflected in legal documents and the Union State programs. He greatly influenced the development of the modern approaches to the interregional cooperation. As a result, now we have agreements with almost all Russian regions,” said Igor Petrishenko.

The ceremony to open the exhibition was attended by State Secretary of the Belarus-Russia Union State Grigory Rapota, Chairman of the Executive Committee, CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev, Director of the CIS Business Center for Economic Development Vladimir Savchenko.
