European Youth Olympic Festival: Belarus claims first medals

Belarusian judokas Glafira Bakhur and Vladislav DzvonikMINSK, 26 July (BelTA) – Belarus has won three medals at the start of the 2017 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival in Gyor, Hungary, BelTA has learned.

Belarusian swimmer Anastasia Skurdai clocked 1:01.76 to take silver in the 100m Backstroke. The champion title went to Russia’s Darya Vaskina (1:00.87). Bronze was collected by Italy’s Costanza Cocconcelli (1:02.14).

Today Belarusian athletes will compete in basketball, rowing, judo, athletics, swimming, tennis and artistic gymnastics.

Belarusian judokasBelarus has fielded 96 young athletes in Gyor to compete in nine sports. The 2017 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival is held between 23 and 30 July.
