Estonian wind orchestra to perform in Minsk on 10 August

MINSK, 8 August (BelTA) – Saxon wind orchestra from Estonia under the baton of Kaido Kivi will perform at the 5th festival “Classical Music at the Town Hall with velcom | A1” in Minsk on 10 August, organizers of the event told BelTA.

“Saxon is a concert band from the Estonian city of Parnu. The orchestra is over 50 years old and unites 35 people of various ages and professions,” the organizers said. “In Minsk, the orchestra will perform Belarusian folk dances, songs by Estonian composers, and well-known music pieces from Soviet films and theatrical productions based on such famous books as The Twelve Chairs and Les Miserables.

The concert will also feature famous Estonian singer and actor of the Tallinn City Theater Marko Matvere accompanied by pianist Tarmo Eespere.

To mark its fifth anniversary, the festival “Classical Music at the Town Hall with velcom | A1” has traveled to Vitebsk, Gomel, Grodno, and Brest. The series of evening concerts in Minsk kicked off on 20 July and will wrap up 31 August. On 17 August, the festival will feature Belarus State Chamber Orchestra and international concert soloist, professor at the school of arts of the Royal Conservatory of Ghent (Belgium) Timur Sergeyenya. The festival will round off with the concert by the President Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus on 31 August.

The festival has been organized with support of velcom | A1 mobile operator and the Minsk City Hall. All events of the festival are free.
