Days of Belarusian Culture kick off in Japan

MINSK, 19 April (BelTA) – The Days of Belarusian Culture in Japan have kicked off in Tokyo, BelTA learned from the Belarusian diplomatic mission.

At the opening ceremony Belarus’ Ambassador to Japan Ruslan Esin read out Culture Minister Yuri Bondar’s welcome address, stressinh that the performance of Belarusian artists in Japan would lay the foundation for a good tradition of holding cultural campaigns for the name of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

Japan's Minister for Reconstruction, head of the inter-parliamentary friendship group Japan-Belarus Hiromichi Watanabe thanked Belarus for solidarity and the invitation of children from the Japanese regions hit by natural disasters in 2011 and 2018 for summer recuperation holidays.

“The Days of Belarusian Culture in Japan are held by the Culture Ministry of Belarus and the Belarusian embassy in Japan in cooperation with the Russian diplomatic mission in Tokyo and the public organization Earth Identity Project. Considerable assistance is provided by the administration of Miyagi Prefecture and the cities of Shiroishi and Sendai. The Days began with a concert to mark the 20th anniversary of the Union State and the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazis. The guests got familiar with the photo exposition We Won Together, prepared by the Belarusian embassy jointly with the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Belarusian Telegraph Agency BelTA,” the diplomatic mission said.
