Cui Qiming: Belarus-China youth and children’s exchanges will be continued

MINSK, 21 March (BelTA) – Belarus-China youth and children’s exchanges will be further developed, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Cui Qiming said at a ceremony held in Minsk on 21 March to award the winners of the essay competition, Belarusian-Chinese Cooperation. My Vision of the Silk Road and the Great Stone Industrial Park, BelTA has learned.

The diplomat said that in 2014, on the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, some 200 children from the Chernobyl-hit regions visited China as part of the medical treatment and healthcare program. In 2015, 50 Chinese kids paid a visit to Belarus on a friendly exchange initiative.

The Ambassador stressed that more than 2,000 Chinese students receive education in Belarus, while over 500 Belarusians study in China. Cui Qiming noted that students of China and Belarus teamed up to organize the Chinese-Belarusian youth innovation forum. This year, Belarus will host the China-Belarus youth competitions on robotics technology.

Head of the international radio station Belarus Naum Galperovich, who was one of the initiators of the essay competition, emphasized the importance of the contest for the future of the Belarusian-Chinese cooperation. He stressed that a wide variety of works were submitted, in which authors expressed their opinion on the development of contacts between the two countries and their prospects.

Director of the Confucius Institute for Chinese Studies of the Belarusian State University Anatoly Tozik also emphasized big prospects of Belarus-China cooperation.

The creative competition, Belarus-China Cooperation. My Vision of the Silk Road and the Great Stone Industrial Park, was organized by the international radio station Belarus of the Belarusian TV and Radio Company together with the Chinese Embassy, the Belarusian Society of Friendship and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, and the Confucius Institute for Sinology of the Belarusian State University. The competition was held as part of the celebrations of the 25th anniversary of the Belarusian-Chinese diplomatic relations.
