MINSK, 1 August (BelTA) – China intends to build a Belarus-themed tourist complex with a replica of Nesvizh Castle on the grounds of Yu Bei State Agriculture Technology Park in the city of Chongqing by late 2020. An agreement on investment cooperation on the project was signed in the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee on 1 August, BelTA has learned.

“The tourist complex will occupy around 100 hectares and will contribute greatly to the development of Belarus-China relations in all areas: tourism, culture, trade, and investment. Plans are in place to open the tourist complex in Chongqing in a year and a half,” said Tang Chuan, Secretary of the Yubei District Committee of the Communist Party of China. According to him, the site will showcase Belarusian agricultural products, which will promote trade relations between the two countries.

The replica of Nesvizh Castle will be the main draw of the complex. The Chinese party has also taken interest in several architectural sites of Minsk: Holy Spirit Cathedral, Minsk Town Hall, and Saints Simon and Helena Church (also known as the Red Church).

The complex will also comprise several themed areas. A landmark recreation zone will include a castle with interior decoration and exhibits. A cultural zone will put on display linen and craft items. An arts zone will host a music festival featuring Belarusian songs and dances. Plans are in place to set up a zone for wedding ceremonies and celebrations and a food court, build private houses and hotels.
