Budapest to host Days of Minsk on 19-22 April

MINSK, 11 April (BelTA) - The Days of Minsk will take place in Budapest on 19-22 April 2018, Minsk vice mayor Alexander Krepak told a press conference, BelTA has learned.

Speaking on the program of the activities, Alexander Krepak highlighted the Belarusian-Hungarian business forum and negotiations between enterprises of the two countries. The Belarusian delegation will include representatives of Minskvodokanal, Kontinentalis Trade and Industrial Company, Minsk city Technopark, PosudaOptServis, Linline Medical Systems, Kommunarka confectionary, Minskhlebprom bakery, Minsk branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The tourist and hospitality sectors of Minsk will be represented by the Minsk Information and Tourist Center, Mingorspravka, Minotel, Hotel d’Europe. The program envisages meetings and talks with retail networks, wine companies, travel operators, news agencies and so on. Some 35 Hungarian companies have already applied for the talks with Belarusian companies.

Minsk Mayor Andrei Shorets is expected to meet with Istvan Tarlos. The 21st district Csepel of Budapest and Partizansky District of Minsk are set to sign an agreement to promote cooperation in economy and trade, science and education, culture, literature and arts, sports and tourism, social affairs and health, youth and sports, information. According to Alexander Krepak, the prospects are great because the districts of Budapest are autonomous, with their own budgets, while Partizansky District of Minsk is considered one of the most industrially-advanced ones. “We expect joint projects to emerge soon,” Alexander Krepak said.

The Budapest Spring Festival 2018, which is running from 30 March to 22 April, will feature a stand of Minsk companies, including Minskkhlebprom, Kommunarka and other producers. The Belarusian dance company Khoroshki will perform as part of the cultural program of the festival.

The program will also include an exchange of the best municipal services, talks with Albacom company regarding the implementation of the Smart City project, and visits to the Budapest Central Wastewater Treatment Plant and the control center of the Budapest metro system.

The Days of Minsk in Budapest will continue a series of events to promote cooperation between the two capitals. The first step in this direction was the Minsk Economy Days in Budapest on 24-26 October 2016 with the participation of the authorities of the two cities. A month later an agreement on cooperation was signed between the Municipality of Budapest and Minsk City Hall. Since then, the two cities have exchanged a number of mutual visits and delegations, and held the Belarusian-Hungarian business forum.
