BelTA's photos on show at Armenian international photo festival

BelTA's photos on show at Armenian international photo festival

MINSK, 28 August (BelTA) – Photos of the Belarusian news agency BelTA are on show at the First Armenian International Photo Festival, BelTA has learned.

Taking part in the festival are photographers from 20 countries, including Belarus, Denmark, Italy, the UAE, Russia, the United States, France, Switzerland, and Japan. Photos are on display in 39 pavilions: from Zvartnots International Airport to the president’s residence, in the Hovhannes Tumanyan Museum, at two stations of the Yerevan metro and other places. BelTA’s photos have been placed at the Marshal Baghramyan metro station.

According to BelTA Director General Irina Akulovich, the exhibition can tell a lot about Belarus. “It is symbolic that the agency’s photos are showcased at the Marshal Baghramyan metro station. Belarusian people know this name very well. This is a man who did a lot for the liberation of our country. We are a part of the international photo festival which major idea is to be unique. With the help of these photos we want to show that Belarusians preserve their unique traditions and rites,” Irina Akulovich said.

A part of the 20 photos are the works of BelTA photographer Oksana Manchuk. “This is the first international exhibition where my photographs are on display. I am very pleased that the exhibition is taking place in Yerevan, as BelTA and the Armenian news agency Armenpress maintain close ties. It is also nice that the photos are shown at the metro station. Thus, they become available to the wider public. People can watch the photos and learn more about the culture of our country while waiting for their train,” said Oksana Manchuk.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia to Belarus Armen Ghevondyan views such events important. “They aim to highlight the historical connection with traditions, ethnicity and culture of every nation. In this very case, the exhibition of Belarusian photographs in Armenia provides people, who are getting familiar with Belarus for the first time, an opportunity to feel the diversity of Belarusian culture, to see how much in common the two peoples have,” the ambassador said.

According to Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Armenia Igor Nazaruk, the exhibition is another opportunity to present the Belarusian culture and national traditions. "It is not the only cultural project between our countries that organize them quite regularly,” the diplomat said.

Director General of the Armenian national news agency Armenpress Aram Ananyan added that he was glad to contribute to the establishment of the festival as a media partner and recalled a photo exhibition which Armenpress held in Minsk a month ago. “We are glad that we have made a certain contribution to the organization of the event. We are also happy that the Belarusian news agency BelTA has presented its photos in Yerevan,” said Aram Ananyan.

The First Armenian International Photo Festival is held under the aegis of the Yerevan City Hall. The exhibition will stay open through 24 September.
