Belarusian Seasons kick off in Moscow

MOSCOW, 31 May (BelTA) – The Belarusian Seasons, a project dedicated to the Year of Culture in Belarus, kicked off in Moscow on 31 May, BelTA has learned.

At the Belarusian Seasons opening ceremony Charge d’Affaires of Belarus to Russia Yuri Yaroshevich noted that cultural cooperation have been vibrantly developing between Belarus and Russia. The two countries regularly exchange plays, exhibitions, and concerts. The current project will be a so-called creative introduction to the Days of Belarusian Culture in Russia that are to open on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia with a play Vitaut from the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater on 21 June.

According to Yuri Yaroshevich, the Belarusian Seasons will demonstrate a wide variety of the Belarusian culture. The opening day of the Belarusian Seasons offered two exhibitions at the Business and Cultural Center of the Belarusian embassy in Russia: the Belarusian Music Instruments of the State Museum of the History of the Theater and Music Culture and an exhibition of towels, tapestry and traditional Belarusian national costumes of different epochs and classes from the Lepel Crafts Center. Visitors were also able to take part in different crafts workshops. The program included the performance of the folk band Byaseda and the national cuisine tasting.

The Belarusian Seasons in Moscow will continue with Eternal Song from the National Theater of Belarusian Dramaturgy on 7 June. A concert of the Classic Avant-garde ensemble of the Belarusian State Philharmonics is scheduled for 9 June. The Gorky National Academic Drama Theater will present its play Pesnyar on 15 June to tell the story of USSR and Belarus People’s Artist Vladimir Mulyavin. The Belarusian Seasons will be wrapped up with an evening to mark the 75th anniversary of the start of the Great Patriotic War on 22 June.
