Belarusian experimental productions to open TEART 2013

MINSK, 23 July (BelTA) - The international theater forum TEART 2013 will present experimental theatrical productions. These will be both Belarusian performances and joint Belarusian-Russian projects. The festival will be running from 28 September till October 21, BelTA learned from the festival organizers.

This year’s forum will open with PATRIS by directors Sergei Antselevich, Dmitry Bogoslavsky and Viktor Krasovsky. This is the joint production by the Art Corporation with the support of the New Drama Theater and the Adam Mickiewicz Institute. It is the story of director Nastya and operator Kostia who are making a documentary about what the words "homeland" and "patriotism" mean for their fellow citizens. Personal and working relationships of the main characters get intertwined. In the end, they must decide either to leave the country or stay.

“Short-timed” by Belarusian playwright Konstantin Steshik will be staged on 29 September. This is a conversation of the son with the father who has memory problems. They have just returned from the funeral of the mother, but the father could not remember what had happened, and the son is trying to get him back into reality. The director is Semyon Aleksandrovsky, young but already well known not only in Russia but also abroad director of St. Petersburg.

“A Sad Hockey Player” by Belarusian playwright Pavel Pryazhko will be shown on 30 September. The story about a little man in the complex world of human beings has been made by the Art Corporation jointly with the Theater Post. The director is Dmitry Volkostrelov, one of the most popular young authors of Moscow, creator and manager of the Theater Post.

On 1 October, the guests will see “Quiet Rustle of Retreating Footsteps” by Belarusian playwright Dmitry Bogoslavsky, produced by the National Belarusian Drama Theater staged jointly with the International Confederation of Theatrical Unions of Russia. The piece is an essay about the respect to the already illusive past, about family, childhood and about the painful fear before memories.

The Belarusian part of the program will conclude with "Repair" by Vyacheslav Inozemtsev’s InZhest theater. The production came as a result of a series of international theater projects, which included master classes with actors from Europe and final performances under the name "X-tradition" with the use of plastic improvisation, grotesque carnival, and Butoh dance.

According to the organizers, the Belarusian part of the program will draw attention to such area as a project theater, which has become a popular form of creative interaction in the theatrical space of Russia and Europe.

The forum is organized by the Center of Visual and Performing Arts Center “Art Corporation” and OAO Belgazprombank with the assistance of the Culture Ministry of the Republic of Belarus.
