Belarusian diplomats plant 5,000 trees in Smolevichi District

MINSK, 20 April (BelTA) – Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Center for Marketing and Price Study, the Association of Veterans of Diplomatic Service and also their families took part in the annual nationwide campaign Forest Week on 20 April, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“Belarusian diplomats have made their contribution to the preservation and augmentation of the country’s forest resources, popularization of attitude of care to one of the country’s main natural riches. The diplomats planted the area of two hectares with more than 5,000 birches, spruces and pines in Smolevichi District, Minsk Oblast. The area was badly hit by a storm in 2016,” the press service said.

The nationwide voluntary campaign Forest Week is held in Belarus on an annual basis. In 2019, the event is celebrating the Year of Native Land and the 75th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation from the Nazis.
