Belarusian diplomats honor memory of death camp victims in Latvia, Germany

MINSK, 13 April (BelTA) – Belarusian diplomats have honored memory of the people, who died in Nazi concentration camps in Latvia and Germany, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.

On the occasion of International Day of Liberation of Prisoners of Nazi Concentration Camps representatives of the diplomatic missions of Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia laid down wreaths in the Salaspils concentration camp memorial in Latvia. Representatives of the Latvian society of Nazi prisoners Memory for the Future and war veteran organizations took part in the ceremony.

Representatives of the Embassy of Belarus in Germany took part in an event dedicated to the 71st anniversary since the liberation of the Mittelbau-Dora concentration camp in Thuringia, Germany. A wreath was laid down at the monument in memory of the concentration camp victims. Representatives of the Embassy talked to the director of the Mittelbau-Dora memorial. A group of the concentration camp’s former prisoners from various countries, representatives of the Thuringia province government, public organizations, mass media, the diplomatic corps, and the general public attended the event. Calls for continuing the work to immortalize memory of the Nazi crimes were the keynote of the event.
