Belarusian, Chinese publishers present joint book series

MINSK, 4 May (BelTA) – The first book from the series titled as Key Concepts of Chinese Philosophy and Culture was presented in Minsk on 4 May, BelTA has learned.

The series will be available in Belarusian and Chinese. It is being published by the Belarusian publishing house Mastatskaya Litaratura in line with the agreement signed with the Beijing-based publisher Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (FLTRP) during the Beijing International Book Fair 2018. Director of Mastatskaya Litaratura Aleksandr Badak noted that the project is at a junction of science and culture. It will allow people in the two countries to understand each other better.

Fan Xiaohong, Deputy Director of the Chinese publishing company, said that there are plans to publish a series of books about Chinese culture in 22 countries in 24 languages, including Belarusian. Over 100 specialists from 40 Chinese universities and over 30 foreign sinologists worked on the project. They selected the main concepts that reflect peculiarities of Chinese culture as well as traditional Chinese values. “These books are the key to the understanding of modern China,” Fan Xiaohong stressed.

The implementation of the agreement to publish the series of books Key Concepts of Chinese Philosophy and Culture represents another step in implementing the 2015-2020 memorandum of cooperation between the Belarusian Information Ministry and China’s State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SAPPRFT) on the project to translate and publish Chinese and Belarusian classic literature works.

Mastatskaya Litaratura is also busy implementing the project Light Signs: Poets of China within the framework of the memorandum.
