Belarusian books to go on show in Turkmenistan

MINSK, 7 December (BelTA) – Novelties of the Belarusian publishing industry will be displayed at the National Exhibition Fair of Belarus in Ashgabat on 11-13 December, BelTA learnt from the Information Ministry of Belarus.

The national stand will feature about 200 recently-published books. The exposition will present the best educational, scientific, popular science, information, encyclopedic, business, belles-letters and children’s publications. The visitors of the exposition in Turkmenistan will see a book for the visually-impaired, based on the Braille system.

One of the draws of the exposition will be the album Castles of Belarus, which got the Grand Prix of the 12th CIS International Competition Art of the Book. Castles of Belarus is a large-scale project of the Belarusian book publishing of the 21st century, telling the story of the architectural specimens. The project united the country’s leading historians and photographers to making a present-day chronicle of the castle culture in Belarus. The photo album demonstrates Belarus as a country of castles known since the 15th century.

The stand will also feature special issues of the Belarus magazine and the LiM newspaper telling about the relations between Belarus and Turkmenistan in various areas.

The exposition will also display samples of paper goods and information on the publishing, polygraphic and bookselling activity in Belarus.
