Belarusian artists to take part in Russia’s Theater Union summer school

MINSK, 18 April (BelTA) – Belarusian artists will participate in the 12th edition of the international summer school of the Theater Union of the Russian Federation, BelTA learned from the union’s press service.

The summer school will take place in Moscow on 2-28 June. This year it will feature 90 artists from 30 countries: Denmark, Germany, the UK, the USA, Belarus, Armenia, Austria, Georgia, Turkey, Slovenia and many others. Belarus will be represented by Vadim Gaidukovsky, the artist of the New Drama Theater, the Modern Art Theater (Minsk), the Brest Academic Drama Theater actress Alexandra Gribko and the Mogilev Regional Drama Theater artist Andrei Korzan. Since its founding the summer school has hosted more than 1,000 young actors from more than 50 states and more than 100 Russian cities.

The program looks like a three-week course full of workshops, trainings and lectures in the main professional disciplines: acting, scenic speech, scenic movement, contact improvisation, vocal, rhythmics, dance, make-up, fencing and stage combat.

The teachers are the leading masters from Russia’s best universities. During the summer school the students will perform some plays in different genres, like drama, puppet theater, dance and street performance. The workshops will be held by the theater masters Alexander Kalyagin, Adolf Shapiro, Igor Zolotovitsky, Veniamin Smekhov, Aleksei Zabrodin.

The public plays will take place in the Union’s Theater center Na Strastnom (Moscow) and in Moscow streets. Besides, the courses include a rich cultural program based on Moscow theater life. The graduates will get state diplomas on skills upgrading.

The Russian-speaking professional actors under 35 have the right to participate in the international summer school of the Theater Union of the Russian Federation. All the costs related to the stay of the participants in Russia are covered by the organizers. The participants are selected via the professional contest.

The Theater Union has been organizing this great theatrical project for 12 years. The ideological inspirer and art director of the project is Alexander Kalyagin, Chairman of the Theater Union of Russian Federation and People’s Artist of Russia. The project is carried out with the support of Russia’s Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Culture of Moscow Oblast.
