Belarus’ Year of Education in China to open on 10 January

MINSK, 9 January (BelTA) – A delegation of the Belarusian Education Ministry led by minister Igor Karpenko is in China on 8-12 January to attend the opening ceremony of the Year of Education of the Republic of Belarus in China, BelTA learned from the ministry’s press service.

“Belarus attaches great importance to the development of relations with China. Thanks to the joint efforts of the leaders of our states, the Belarusian-Chinese cooperation has been developing rapidly rising to a new level. The mutual trust is growing stronger, the interaction expands in all fields. Education is the foundation for the development of contacts and raising the level of trust of the states in each other. It ensures intellectual, cultural and linguistic rapprochement between our peoples. Without cooperation in education, it is difficult to imagine the development of full-fledged relations in economy, politics and other areas,” the press service said.

The Belarusian delegation, comprising rectors of the country's leading universities, is set to attend the scientific conference on the Belarusian-Chinese relations in education with the participation of the rectors of Chinese universities, to meet with Chinese Vice Minister of Education Tian Xuejun, Vice Governor of Liaoning Province Li Jinke, to attend a ceremony to sign cooperation agreements between higher education institutions of the two countries, to visit the Belarus study center at Dalian Polytechnic University, and to attend a ceremony to honor the people who have made a significant contribution to the development of the Belarusian-Chinese cooperation in educaiton. Belarus Education Minister Igor Karpenko is also scheduled to give a press briefing for Chinese mass media
