Belarus wins three silver, one bronze awards at International Army Games 2018 so far

MINSK, 6 August (BelTA) – A number of International Army Games 2018 events are now over. The Belarusian teams have won three silver and one bronze awards so far, representatives of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.

The Belarusian team won a silver award during the Engineering Formula event in the Russian city of Volzhsky where Russia won gold and China won bronze. The Belarusian team won a silver award during the Warrior of Commonwealth event, with Kazakhstan securing gold and Armenia winning bronze. The Belarusian team won silver during the Safe Environment event, which tested skills of radiation, chemical, and biological protection recon units in the Russian city of Kostroma. Russia won gold while China won bronze.

The Belarusian team finished third during the Faithful Friend event for dog handlers. Russia won gold while China came in second.

Meanwhile, the Sniper Frontier event in Brest is in full swing. The Belarusian team is in the lead after two stages followed by Kazakhstan and Russia. The Belarusian team is now in the final stage of the Field Kitchen event. It will have to compete against teams from China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and Azerbaijan. The Belarusian team is second after two stages of the event, which tests artillery fire skills. Kazakhstan is in the lead, with Russia being third.

The Belarusian teams are taking part in an UAV crew competition and a communications unit competition for the first time. The Belarusian teams are now second only to Kazakhstan, the country hosting the two events.

The International Army Games 2018 are scheduled to take place in seven countries – Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, and Russia – on 28 July – 11 August. The games feature 28 events. Eighteen events will take place in Russia. Iran will host a competition for combat divers. Azerbaijan will host the Sea Cup – a competition of crews of naval surface ships. Kazakhstan is hosting competitions among artillery units, military communication specialists, and operators of unmanned aerial vehicles. The Sniper Frontier event is scheduled to take place in the exercise area of the 38th Independent Airborne Brigade near Brest on 28 July – 11 August. Belarus has been taking part in the International Army Games since 2015.
