Belarus win three medals on Greco Roman World Cup final day

MINSK, 15 December (BelTA) - Belarusian athletes won three medals on the final day of the Greco-Roman Wrestling World Cup to rank fifth in the total standings with 78 points, BelTA has learned.

In the men’s 60kg event Maksim Kazharski won the bout against Ahmet Uyar of Turkey. The winner in this weight class was Zholaman Shershenbekov of Kyrgyzstan who defeated Stepan Maryanyan of Russia in the final.

Soslan Daurov (63kg) brought another bronze medal to Belarus securing a confident win over the Tunisian wrestler 5-1. The gold was clinched by Russia’s Zhambolat Lokyaev who beat Hungary’s wrestler 4-1. Another bronze medal went to Kyrgyzstan’s Kaly Suleymanov.

Radik Kuliev (82kg) won third bronze for Belarus, defeating Moldova’s Mihael Bradu 5-1. Russia’s Milad Alirzaev claimed gold with a victory over Turkey 11-0. The second bronze medal went to Germany. 

Aleksander Hrabovik finished 10th in the 97kg event.

On the first day of the competitions Belarus’ Kirill Maskevich claimed gold in the 87kg event.

In the women’s wrestling Iryna Kurachkina will compete for gold in the 55kg on 15 December. Zalina Sidakova will have a bronze medal bout in the 53kg event.

Anna Sadchenko (68kg) and Vasilisa Marzalyuk (76kg) will compete for medals, too.

Taking part in the competitions in Belgrade are more than 500 athletes from over 50 countries.
