Belarus, Turkey to hold forum of higher education institutions

MINSK, 28 August (BelTA) – Belarus and Turkey are set to hold a forum of higher education institutions, Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei told reporters following his talks with Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlut Cavusoglu on 28 August, BelTA has learned.

“President of the Council of Higher Education of the Republic of Turkey Prof. Dr. M. A. Yekta Sarac will come to Belarus in October to discuss educational partnerships and preparations for the Belarus-Turkey forum of higher education institutions,” Vladimir Makei informed.

According to him, the two countries are interested in establishing new contacts in technology, innovation and higher learning. There are plans to scale up cooperation in joint research and academic exchanges.

Reviewing the 28 August talks, Vladimir Makei said that the parties also discussed international security, including efforts to settle regional conflicts, and cooperation within the framework of international organizations.

In conclusion, Vladimir Makei emphasized that Turkey is a priority partner for Belarus. “We highly value our friendship and are determined to maintain fruitful cooperation in all the areas,” he said.
