Belarus to waive visas for ASE congress delegates

MINSK, 31 May (BelTA) - Participants of the 31st Planetary Congress of the Association of Space Explorers, which will take place in Minsk on 9-15 September, will be allowed visa-free entry to Belarus for the duration of the congress, Sergei Kilin, deputy chairman of the academic organizing committee, Vice Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, said in an interview with BelTA.

“We have a five-day visa-free travel program for those who arrive in the country via Minsk National Airport. To ensure that our guests have the opportunity to stay in Belarus longer than five days, we will waive visa rules for the duration of the congress. Such a decision has already been made. Thus the guests will not need to spend a lot of time on visa application paperwork,” Sergei Kilin said.

The Association of Space Explorers is an international not-for-profit organization that unites cosmonauts and astronauts from many countries. It was established in 1985 to share the best practices in the area of manned space flights. The Planetary Congress of the Association of Space Explorers gathers cosmonauts and representatives of scientific research institutions and national space agencies on an annual basis.
