Belarus' team lifts Sniper Frontier Cup

BREST, 9 August (BelTA) – The Belarusian team was awarded the Sniper Frontier Winners Cup at the closing ceremony on 9 August, BelTA has learned.

Taking part in the Sniper Frontier event of the International Army Games 2018 were 18 countries. The event took place in an exercise area near Brest. Belarusian servicemen took the first and second places in the overall individual standings. Russia placed third. Belarus produced the same result in the competition of sniper pairs, with Kazakhstan taking bronze. The hosts finished third in the sniper relay race behind China and Kazakhstan.

In the total number of points the Belarusian team claimed the champion title, Kazakhstan was second. Russia and China sharing the third place.

“We are glad that Belarus has been honored to host the competition. We did our best not only to create comfortable conditions for the participants but also to show our national culture, traditions, and everything that we are proud of,” said Belarus' Defense Minister Andrei Ravkov.

The participants of the competition praised the organization of the event. “Belarus did a great job. Snipers got useful skills which they will use later during the performance of tasks, including combat ones. The cultural program was great, too. We were given a tour of the Brest Fortress and Belovezhskaya Pushcha,” head of the Russian team Gediminas Gabrusenas said.

According to head of Kazakhstan’s national team Galymzhan Kasymbekov, the Sniper Frontier competitive level was high. “We are happy with the organization of the competition. Everything was transparent and honest. Our major rivals were Belarus, Russia and China. Other teams demonstrated a high level, too,” he said.

The Sniper Frontier event of the International Army Games was held for the third time. The country to host the next event will be announced later.
