Belarus Remembers event scheduled for 9 May

MINSK, 7 May (BelTA) – The nationwide campaign Belarus Remembers will be held in the Belarusian capital on 9 May, Inna Adamovich, the head of the concert and festival programs office at the arts department of the Culture Ministry, told the media, BelTA informs.

“The nationwide campaign Belarus Remembers will take place in the Victory Square at 12.00 on 9 May and will include a wreath ceremony at the Victory Monument. Similar campaigns will be held in the oblast centers of the country with the observation of the nationwide one-minute silence and wreath and flower ceremonies at the monuments to the Great Patriotic War. Taking part in the events will be war and labor veterans, the Armed Forces of Belarus, heads of government bodies, public and religious organizations, representatives of the diplomatic corps, the general public of Minsk, children and the youth,” Inna Adamovich said.

The celebrations in Minsk will continue with a theatrical performance. Artists, acrobats and dancers will recreate living sculptures of famous war memorials. The theatrical performance will be wrapped up with bell-ringing and Den Podeby song.

A gala concert of the Victory Square 2018 TV project will start in Victory Square at 21.30. The concert will feature well-known war and postwar songs to the accompaniment of the Belarus Presidential Orchestra. Taking part in the concert will be popular Belarusian singers and music bands, Minsk theater actors. People’s Artist of Russia Lev Leshchenko will be a special guest at the concert.

The regions and the city of Minsk will hold other festive events that will highlight the scale of the nationwide celebration of the Victory Day, promote patriotic education of youth. The war and labor veterans will be provided all the necessary assistance. The list of events includes commemorative meetings and concerts, rallies, flower ceremonies, movie screenings, exhibitions, etc.

A fireworks display to celebrate the 73rd anniversary of the Great Victory is scheduled for 23.00. Festival events will be held in the run-up to the Victory Day as well.
