MINSK, 2 September (BelTA) – The Pinsk-based Polesie Drama Theater will show the horror production Viy at the 7th edition of the international theater festival Smolensk Ark, BelTA learned from the theater.

The theater festival is running in Russia’s Smolensk on 1-7 September. The Belarusian theater will perform on the big stage of the Griboyedov Smolensk State Drama Theater on 3 September. The festival was to take place in April, but it was rescheduled due to the pandemic.

The horror production Viy, directed by Pavel Marinich, is based on the story by Nikolai Gogol adapted for the theater stage by Nina Sadur.

Next spring, the Polesie Drama Theater will celebrate its 15th anniversary. The theater intends to stage new productions to mark the occasion. “Due to the pandemic, we have had a lot of time for rehearsals and work on new productions. Some of them will premiere this autumn,” representatives of the theater noted.
