Belarus’ Lyadov qualifies for men’s 15K mass start in Kontiolahti

MINSK, 13 March (BelTA) – Belarus’ biathlete Yuri Lyadov has qualified for the men’s 15K mass start at the ongoing IBU World Championships in Kontiolahti, BelTA has learned.

Yuri Lyadov managed to qualify for the final race of the competition because of the 16th place in sprint, 17th place in pursuit and the 17th place in individual. The Belarusian has qualified for the men’s mass start with 73 points. Other Belarusian biathletes did not qualify for the event.

During the ongoing IBU World Cup season Yuri Lyadov competed in men’s mass start at the fourth World Cup leg in Germany’s Oberhof. He finished with the 28th result. The Belarusian biathlete is placed 41st in the IBU men’s mass start standings with six points. Russia’s Anton Shipulin is the leader of the IBU men’s mass start standings (152 points).

BelTA reported earlier that Darya Domracheva and Anastasia Duborezova of Belarus qualified for the women’s mass start in Kontiolahti which will take place on 15 March.

The women’s 4x6km relay will take place on 13 March. The Belarusian team will comprise Nadezhda Skardino, Nadezhda Pisareva, Irina Krivko and Darya Domracheva. During the 2014/2015 IBU World Cup seasons the Belarusian quartet claimed two medals.
