Belarus’ Honorary Consulate opens in French Lyon

MINSK, 11 December (BelTA) – The Honorary Consulate of Belarus has opened in the French city of Lyon, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in France.

Belarus’ Ambassador to France Pavel Latushko and the Honorary Consul of Belarus to Lyon placed the flag of the Republic of Belarus on the premises of the Honorary Consulate. Belarus’ coat of arms was handed over to the Honorary Consul.

The Honorary Consulate is located in the Place Antonin-Poncet, one of the most famous squares in Lyon. The consular district will encompass the Rhone-Alpes region.

Lyon is one of the largest administrative, political, economic, and cultural regional centers in France.

An official reception was given on behalf of the Belarusian Ambassador to France and the Honorary Consul at the history club Cercle de l’Union to celebrate the opening of the Honorary Consulate. The reception was attended by political and public figures, businessmen, cultural workers, and representatives of the Belarusian community in France.
