Premiere of Black Castle movie based on Vladimir Korotkevich’s novel

The Black Castle is a modern adaptation of Vladimir Korotkevich's historical detective novel ‘The Black Castle of Olshany’. Forty years have passed since its first screen adaptation: a film of the same name by director Mikhail Ptashuk was premiered in 1984. This time, screenwriter Gleb Shprigov and director Kirill Kuzin took on the task of reinterpreting the novel. Even before the official premiere in Minsk, The Black Castle won the Special Jury Prize of the Feature Film Competition and the Special Prize “Cinema without Borders” of the CIS Executive Committee at the Minsk International Film Festival Listapad 2024. According to the plot of the historical drama, young professor Anton Kosmich (Evgeny Shvarts) finds himself in trouble after an ancient gospel belonging to the Olshany family finds its way into his antique store. To save himself and unravel the secrets of the past, he goes to Olshany... The screen adaptation of one of the most famous works of Belarusian literature was attended by Anastasia Krasovskaya, Evgeny Stychkin, Evgeny Shvarts and Vitaly Kishchenko.

A new program at Belarusian circus

The Belarusian State Circus invites on a journey to a special planet called “Circus”. Audiences are expected to see a spectacular performance: the new program features acrobats, aerial gymnasts, vaulters, jugglers, clowns and tamed bears, dogs and cats. Planet Circus promises to be an unforgettable show, in which fantasy meets reality and each act will thrill the audiences.

Fashion history exhibition  in Grodno

The exhibition about fashion trends of the 19th - early 20th century calls to “Inspire. Shine. Dream”. It presents items of women's clothing, iconic examples of accessories, perfumes, cosmetics of world and domestic manufacturers. The exhibition features more than 700 items, including a “golden” court dress from the late 19th century, a necklace from the 1970s as a reflection of the universal admiration for the treasures from Tomb of Tutankhamun, and jewelry from fashion designer Hattie Carnegie, inspired by the art of ancient civilizations in Mexico. The exhibition is based on the private collection of Tatiana Fedosova. The exhibition also showcases the objects of the 19th - early 20th centuries from the collection of the Museum of the History of Religion: paintings, artistic items made of porcelain and metal, antique furniture, which is shown to visitors for the first time.

Exhibition project to celebrate Victory Day in the National Library of Belarus

The exhibition project dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War displays exhibits from 14 museums of the country. It presents the history in reverse chronological order: from the Victory Parade to the beginning of the war. The exhibition presents items of trench art, personal belongings, homemade weapons of partisans, effects of prisoners of concentration camps, homemade books and diaries, medals, archive documents, articles and essays about the exploits on the battlefields. The most striking exhibits include the original entrance ticket to the 1945 Victory Parade, photographs of soldiers near the Reichstag and the Brandenburg Gate...

Interactive excursion program in Loshitsa manor house

The Loshitsa Manor museum, one of the most popular sights of Minsk, invites visitors to go on the Magpies ethnographic journey and explore the modern folk art and crafts exhibition Memory Trove. The interactive program is based on the Belarusian folk calendar and is dedicated to spring rites.

Art Minsk 2025: Exhibition of contemporary Belarusian art

A large exhibition project called as Art Minsk showcases more than 550 pieces of art by 225 contemporary Belarusian artists. One of the goals of this large-scale project is to enrich the cultural life of the city and present the most relevant trends of the art scene. This season, the project has received more than 1,300 applications, which was a record high. The expert jury selected 550 artists from different cities to participate in the project. Visitors have an opportunity to buy the works of art (90% of them are available on the online platform Artcenter.by) and to support artists by voting.

Belarusian Drama Week

The Belarusian Drama Week at the National Belarusian Drama Theater will present performances based on works by Belarusian authors, including the famous productions Vechar and Zaruchyny based on 20th-century plays by Aleksandr Volodsky and Aleksandr Chuzhinin. The program includes stage readings of plays from the 1990s, 2000s and 2010s, lectures on the history of the National Belarusian Drama Theater and drama, as well as master classes. The Belarusian Drama Week will open with the premiere of My Homeland. The production about the plumber Gena is a story about one's homeland and place in life. Participants will be shown the inner workings of the theater, try their hand at directing, learn how to stage a performance, collaborate with a young director, and write their own text.

2 April – Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia

The main holiday of the Union State of Belarus and Russia is celebrated on 2 April. On this day in 1996, the Treaty on the Community of Belarus and Russia was signed, and in 1997 – the Union State Treaty that laid the basis for the integration of the two states. As usual, the program will include concerts, exhibitions, and film screenings.

The National Art Museum of Belarus began the celebration marathon with the exhibition “Russia – Belarus. Intersection of Destinies”. The project kicked off on 23 December 2024. It highlights the historical and cultural affinity of the two sovereign states, their uniqueness and unity, authenticity and mutual cultural influence. The exhibition features about 300 works, including paintings, graphics, sculptures, decorative and applied arts from the rich collections of two leading art museums of Russia and Belarus.

From 2 April, the Week of Russian Classics will be running at the Belarusian State Academic Musical Theater. Theater groups from Smolensk, Bryansk, Penza, Tula, Kaluga and Michurinsk will bring to Minsk performances based on the works of Pushkin, Lermontov, Ostrovsky, Bulgakov, Shukshin. The playbill will include Enough Stupidity in Every Wise Man, Good People!, Dead Souls, The Queen of Spades, Masquerade, Rich Brides.

The exhibition “Bridges of Friendship. Belarus - Russia” is running at the National Center for Contemporary Arts from 26 March to 27 April. The exhibition seeks to show the beauty of our country and hard work of our contemporaries through the eyes of Belarusian and Russian artists. The works on display were created by members of the Association of Plein Air Artists of the Russian Federation during visiting plein airs. One of the goals of the project is to show places in the capital city and regional centers of Belarus that are outside the popular tourist routes and attractions, with a focus on district centers and villages.

Orthodox Easter festival in Minsk

In the run-up to the Easter (this year it will be celebrated on 20 April), the Cultural Spiritual and Educational Center Arc will be running the Easter festival Joy. The festival will bring together monasteries and churches from Russia, Serbia, Syria, Palestine, Moldova, Greece and, of course, Belarus. Special guests will be the residents of the Optina Pustyn monastery Hieromonks Methodius (Kapustin) and Innokenty (Pavlov), who will hold meetings with parishioners and students of the monastery school. During this period, visitors will be able to venerate the relics of the Venerable Moses and Anthony of Optina. An exhibition and fair of artisans Dobrodel will be held on 11-13 April, where handicrafts from artisans from all over Belarus, designer souvenirs, gifts and home decorations for Easter will be on sale.

An exciting program awaits visitors: performances by church choirs and children's vocal, folklore and dance groups, as well as literature and music programs, theater performances, a program for students, the Our Health project, meetings with priests, film screenings, as well as master classes for children and adults, a puppet theater for the little ones.

Belarus Fashion Art Week 2025

Belarus Fashion Week is the largest event in the country’s fashion industry. This year will mark the first time it will feature works by contemporary artists in addition to collections for the upcoming 2025/2026 fall-winter season. On the first day of the event, 6 April, an art showroom will be presented (all works were put together in an electronic catalog on VUCA.by), and a gala show of famous Belarusian fashion brands will be held (Atsapkins fashion designer, CONTE, Artemis, Gersean, MissMantiss, Smev, D.Black, MonteLeSon, NataliaKorzh, Swit). An electronic platform for supporting businesses in the fashion and art industry will be launched.

World Dance Day: Sozhski BOOM Gala Concert in Gomel

Gomel is well-known for its unique dance festival Sozhski Karagod, which has become a visiting card of the city over the 11 years of its history. This year the Forum of Choreographers and Ballet Masters will be held here for the second time. A gala concert will feature the best dance companies of the city and the region.

Belarus’ Enduro 4SEASONS Championship

Enduro is a form of motorcycle sport, involving high-speed races on off-road and hilly areas, full of obstacles in the form of logs, boulders, and car tires. Competitors will have to cope not only with artificial obstacles, but also with the peculiarities of natural relief. The venue for the spring stage is a picturesque area with a unique landscape near the Krasnoselsk chalk pits in Volkovysk District. Competitions will be held in eight classes: Open Hobby, Base 1, Base 2, Base 3, Profi, Lady, Electro, and Master.

Premiere at the Bolshoi Theater of Belarus: a night of one-act ballets

The Bolshoi Theater of Belarus will present the third premiere of the 92nd season - a night of one-act ballets Dances: Bolero, Dance of Death and Carmen to the music of Maurice Ravel, Camille Saint-Saëns and Georges Bizet. According to Igor Kolb, the choreographer-director of the project, the three-part structure is “the intertwining of phenomena without which life is inconceivable: the physical and mental beginning and the inevitable finale”. The visual leitmotif of the performance is the image of a growing thistle, which beckons and wounds, while its withering in the end becomes a metaphor for the death of passion. Other recognizable symbols of the production include a dark mask, a veil, an apple, butterflies and a cage, which reflect the key themes of life and death, struggle and its doom, temptation and transformation.

Polina Gagarina in Minsk

Polina Gagarina will tell the story of her life in its brightest and most memorable moments, captured in her new show Forever. The audience will be treated to a two-hour incredible performance, including modern digital decorations, choreography, perfect sound, colorful costumes and, of course, new hits. Following her success on the Fabrika Zvyozd 2 (Star Factory), the singer has come a long way to win the hearts of music lovers abroad - from winning silver at Eurovision 2015 to reaching the finals of the main Chinese singing competition Singer 2019. The show will feature both new compositions and longtime favorites, including Disarmed, Lullaby, Walk, No More Drama, The Play is Over, Kukushka (Cuckoo Bird), Melancholia....

Kupala Night ballet at Belarusian Musical Theater

In the Belarusian folk calendar, Kupala Night is a magical time associated with purification by powerful elements, the search for the chosen one as well as paparats-kvetka (fern flower). Sergei Mikel, the chief choreographer of the classical ballet troupe of the Belarusian State Academic Musical Theater, winner of international competitions and the recipient of the National Theater Award, has developed a ballet of the same name, in which music, dance and scenography reflect the national mythology, culture and traditions. The ballet illustrates a rite in which our ancestors worshiped the elements of water, fire and earth. The action of the production takes place in several locations: on the bank of the river and in fern thickets.

Grodno Easter Traditions: a handicrafts fair

Orthodox and Catholics will celebrate one of the main religious holidays - Easter - on 20 April this year. Artisans from different parts of Grodno Oblast will gather to display their products in the very center of the city above the Neman. Palm trees, Easter eggs, festive souvenirs, handmade cards, straw baskets, napkins with Easter symbols - everything you need for Palm Sunday and Easter can be found here. Visitors will get a chance to paint eggs using a unique ancient technology, work on a weaving loom, make a souvenir from straw or lace from ordinary paper. The participants of the fair are artisan with the knowledge of traditions included in the State List of Historical and Cultural Assets of the Republic of Belarus.

Futuristic concert Cosmic Landscape in Belarusian State Philharmonic

The classical music theater Impression invites you to take a musical journey through the solar system and paint a Cosmic Landscape in your imagination under the influence of masterpieces from the world classical repertoire. Live music, ballet, theatrical production, light and sound effects will create a unique atmosphere of a flight through different planets and galaxies. The concert will feature the works of Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Symphony No. 40, Ludwig van Beethoven’s The Tempest, Aram Khachaturian's Dance with Sabres and many others. The stage design will feature 3D virtual decorations with fantastic views of space landscapes created by artificial intelligence.

Anthology of World Rock concert in Minsk

The Anthology of World Rock concert will be performed in Minsk by the symphony orchestra and choir SONORUS conducted by Vyacheslav Larin. The repertoire of this ensemble spans over 1,000 pieces including works by such artists as Vivaldi, Strauss, Michael Jackson and Vladimir Vysotsky and classical works of both domestic and international rock. The program of the evening will feature compositions by iconic bands such as Manowar, AC/DC, Metallica, Rammstein, Gregorian, Afterforever, Aerosmith, Queen, Nightwish, IronMaiden, and BonJovi.

Concert in honor of Innokenty Smoktunovsky in Minsk

Honored Artist of the Russian Federation and legendary star of the Queen of the Gypsies film Svetlana Toma will perform at a concert dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Innokenty Smoktunovsky, one of the greatest actors of the 20th century. He starred in more than 100 films and television plays, including Beware of the Car, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson: The Twentieth Century Approaches, Nine Days in One Year, Gardes-Marines, Forward!, Crime and Punishment and Hamlet. During the concert, Svetlana Toma will perform songs and poems in memory of her great colleague, an actor and a soldier of the Great Patriotic War. The concert will begin with Fyodor Yegorov, a member of the Russia Union of Cinematographers, editor and prominent supporter of Russian cinema.

First Gomel Marathon 2025

The first marathon in Gomel dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory will gather both professional athletes and amateur runners. Organizers have prepared three routes based on participants' levels of preparation: 5 km, 10 km, and a full marathon distance of 42.195 km. According to the event's regulations, only adults with a medical certificate are allowed to participate. The marathon is expected to attract a large number of participants, not only from Belarus but also from other countries. However, there are a limited number of available slots.

Strelka spring rite in Drogichin District

The spring calendar in Western Polesie would not be complete without a unique spring rite Strelka, a treasure of Drogichin District. In the village of Bezdezh, this tradition takes place on Easter Day immediately after the church service. According to tradition, participants dress in their finest attire. Women’s outfits need to feature the iconic Bezdezh apron. The unique feature of this festive dance is not performed in a circle but in the shape of a horseshoe or bowstring, hence the rite is named Strelka (arrow). Visitors to the folk creativity museum Bezdezhsky Fartushok will witness a reconstruction of this ancient rite. It marks the end of Lent, the start of spring agricultural work and the beginning of Easter celebrations. The rite has been recognized as an intangible cultural heritage of Belarus.

Song of the Year of Belarus concert in Minsk

The Song of the Year of Belarus is an annual showcase event for the country’s pop music. The lineup includes both established and young performers. The organizers promise a spectacular show featuring the most popular songs of the year. The songs were selected based on their ratings on the radio and the internet and the voting results by the audience.

Eteri Tutberidze team ice show in Minsk

Eteri Tutberidze is the most successful figure skating coach in recent years. Since 2014, her students have won nine Olympic medals, including four golds. They have claimed the European title five times and the World Championship title four times. In 2021, Eteri Tutberidze was recognized as the Best Coach at the inaugural International Skating Union Awards. At her ice show, Belarusian figure skating enthusiasts will see performances by current athletes and showcases by world-class stars such as Alina Zagitova, Evgenia Medvedeva, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva, Sofia Akateva, Adeliia Petrosian, Aleksandra Boikova and Dmitrii Kozlovskii.
