Belarus-China youth robot technology tournament kicks off in Minsk

MINSK, 25 May (BelTA) – The Belarusian-Chinese youth robot technology tournament opened at the Minsk State Children and Youth Center on 25 May, BelTA has learned.

“The Belarusian-Chinese youth robotics competitions are an important event promoting international relations and a pioneering project in China-Belarus sci-tech innovative cooperation. This event is also important for the bilateral education, humanitarian and cultural cooperation,” China’s Ambassador to Belarus Cui Qiming said at the opening ceremony of the competitions.

Belarus-China youth robot technology tournament kicks off in MinskAccording to the Ambassador, the tournament also promotes strengthening of cooperation between the two countries, exchange of specialists, development of relations in education, science and technology, mutual understanding between the peoples. “The development of sci-tech innovations is a new area in bilateral cooperation,” he stressed.

Belarus’ First Deputy Education Minister Vadim Bogush noted that the tournament strengthens friendship between Belarusian and Chinese peoples and also develops an important area, which is robot technology. “Robot creation is a complex task which requires knowledge of physics, mechanics, chemistry, software engineering and IT basics. Participation in this tournament is the first step toward addressing tasks which seem unsolvable for now,” Vadim Bogush added.

Belarus-China youth robot technology tournament kicks off in MinskPartaking in the Roborace and Interplanetary Exploration events are youth teams representing universities and schools of Belarus together with students and teachers from China. These are the first robotics competitions between Belarusian and Chinese students held within bilateral cooperation in the area of sci-tech innovations. Taking part in the competitions are teams from four Chinese universities: Harbin Polytechnic University, Northeastern University, Shenyang Aerospace University, Shenyang University of Technology, and also five Belarusian teams from the Belarusian National Technical University, the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics, Polotsk State University, the Belarusian State Technological University and the National Innovations and Technology Center.

Belarus-China youth robot technology tournament kicks off in MinskThe final of the first stage of the competitions will take place on 25 May. The second stage will be held at the Belarusian State Technological University on 26-27 May.

The tournament is held under the auspices of the Chinese embassy in Belarus, the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus, the Education Ministry of Belarus. The event is organized by the Belarusian National Technical University, the Confucius Science and Technology Institute at the Belarusian National Technical University, the Belarusian State Technological University, the Politekhnik technological cluster under the Belarusian National Technical University.Belarus-China youth robot technology tournament kicks off in Minsk
