Belarus, China to make robots together

MINSK, 17 April (BelTA) – Belarus and China intend to set up an enterprise to make robots together, BelTA learned from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to China Kirill Rudy as a delegation of the Chinese parliament led by Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Zhang Dejiang visited the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone on 17 April.

The ambassador said: “An interesting project is in the pipeline — the joint production of robots designed to extinguish fires and respond to emergencies. A Chinese company and a Belarusian one are in negotiations. The enterprise will be opened somewhere in Belarus if not in this industrial park.”

The China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone is expected to have a subpark dedicated to manufacturers of light diode products. According to the source, China’s Guangdong Province is the world’s largest supplier of light diode products. The Chinese side would like to set up a manufacturing facility in Belarus in order to export merchandise to the European Union. Negotiations are underway. Four companies have decided in favor of it but the subpark will grow larger in the future, said the diplomat. Kirill Rudy remarked that the industrial park is one of the three international projects China pays close attention to.

“It is not just another Belarusian-Chinese project. This project represents Belarus-China friendship. We should work together to develop the Great Stone industrial park. It is our common cause,” said Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Zhang Dejiang.

The Chinese parliament delegation went on a tour of several facilities in the industrial park, including the power substation that will provide the bulk of electricity the park will need, and a trade and logistics hub.
