MINSK, 17 March (BelTA) - Belarus and Japan intend to expand contacts between the biathlon federations of the two countries. The agreement was reached during a meeting between Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Japan Sergei Rakhmanov and President of the Japan Biathlon Federation Hiroaki Ibe, BelTA learned from the press service of the Foreign Ministry.
"During the meeting the parties discussed the prospects for further development of contacts between the biathlon federations of the two countries in view of Hiroaki Ibe’s visit to Belarus in February 2015 and his meetings with the leadership of the Belarusian Biathlon Federation,” informed the press service.
Hiroaki Ibe noted the high level of development of the sports industry in Belarus and expressed readiness to develop cooperation in all core areas of work, including the organization of sports exchanges, joint use of sports facilities, joint training and cooperation in the field of sports medicine. The Japanese side expressed willingness to develop contacts in other winter sports, including ice hockey, freestyle skiing and in the sports sector as a whole.
