Baranovichi local history readings to gather experts from four countries

BREST, 4 November (BelTA) – The international conference titled as Baranovichi Local History Readings will be held at the Baranovichi State University on 4-5 November, BelTA learned from Chairman of the ecological and local history public association Nerush, Senior Lecturer at the Baranovichi State University Vladimir Zuyev.

This is the second such conference, marking the 20th anniversary of the public association Nerush together with the Baranovichi State University. Participanting in the conference will be scholars, local historians, representatives of public organizations from Brest, Minsk, Ukrainian Rovno, Russian Rostov-on-Don, Polish Wroclaw, Katowice, Przemysl.

The major theme of the meeting will be the protection of water resources. The conference participants will discuss the methodology, and practices of the local history research. “Apart from nature protection projects and programs, our association does local history research. The research is used to develop ecological tours, excursion routes, popularize historical and cultural heritage. Such a conference is a good opportunity to take stock of what has been done, give a green light to our product, for example, in tourism,” explained Vladimir Zuyev.

This year, Nerush in cooperation with the Baltic Sea Conservation Foundation is implementing a project entitled Prevention of Pollution of Natural Waters through Public Education and Specialists.

The conference will include an awards ceremony for the most active participants of the competition Batteries Are Not Waste and the competition among teachers for the best off-class activities themed The Baltic Sea Begins Here.
