Ballet Summer at Bolshoi to feature outstanding Belarusian artists

MINSK, 26 March (BelTA) - Outstanding Belarusian artists will perform as part of the Ballet Summer at the Bolshoi program, First Deputy Director General of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater Vladimir Rylatko told the media, BelTA has learned.

“The Ballet Summer will coincide with the 2nd European Games in Minsk. There will be many theater celebrities. The gala concert will feature Belarusians well-known in St. Petersburg, Warsaw and London. The festival will wrap up with a concert “Belarusians of the World on the Bolshoi Theater Stage”, Vladimir Rylatko said. Kyiv Modern Ballet under Radu Poklitaru will make part of the Ballet Summer in the Bolshoi, which will be running on 21-28 June. The program will feature Anastasia, the choreographic legend in two acts, Romeo and Juliet and Swan Lake ballets and many more.

Evenings of the Bolshoi Theater at the Radziwill Castle will be held on 14-16 June. The festival in Nesvizh will celebrate the 200th birthday of Stanislaw Moniuszko, one of the Belarusian national classical opera developers. The program will comprise church music, various concerts and plays, including the Romeo and Juliet ballet and the Tosca opera.

Vladimir Rylatko also spoke about forthcoming premieres, naming Johann Strauss’ operetta Die Fledermaus scheduled for April. The work is directed by Hungary’s Miklos Gabor Kerenyi. “There will also be premieres for Prince Igor and also Anna Karenina. Valentin Elizariev will be restoring his ballet The Creation of the World,” the first deputy director said.

In early September, the Belarusian opera will travel to Cyprus. “This cooperation looks very promising. They are showing a big interest in regular events,” Vladimir Rylatko said. In February, the National Opera and Ballet of Bulgaria plans to bring Parsifal to Minsk.
