MINSK, 20 February (BelTA) – Victoria Azarenka has donated one of her WTA special awards won in 2012 to the Museum of Olympic Glory, BelTA learnt from spokeswoman for the National Olympic Committee Anastasia Marinina.
In 2012 Victoria Azarenka topped the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings for the first time in her sports career and for the first time in the history of the Belarusian tennis.
In October 2012 the Belarusian player was awarded a special WTA prize at the final tournament in Istanbul, Turkey. On 20 February Victoria Azarenka’s mother Alla Azarenka together with workers of the Belarusian Tennis Association handed it over to the Museum of Olympic Glory in Minsk.
The trophy will make part of a permanent exposition at the future headquarters of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus.
