MINSK, 9 June (BelTA) – Artisans from almost 30 regions of Russia will come to the national Kupala Night Festival 2026 in Alexandria, Head of the Culture Department of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee Aleksandr Zhigun told BelTA.
Traditionally, the heart of the Kupala Night celebration in Alexandria will be the exhibition-fair featuring works by artisans from various parts of Mogilev Oblast, Belarus as a whole, and Russia. They will present handmade items reflecting regional color and traditions, and introduce festival guests to the customs of their homeland.
So far, nearly 30 Russian regions have confirmed their participation: around 80 artisans will come to the festival.
“This year, four Russian regions will take part in our celebration for the first time: Chuvashia, Kemerovo Oblast, Rostov Oblast, and Kurgan Oblast,” Aleksandr Zhigun said.
The official opening of the national holiday will take place on the festival’s small stage at 15:00. At 17:00, the concert “Union Stars Visiting Alexandria” will begin on the same stage. During the concert, the national flags of both countries will be unfurled in the sky.
“The major themes of the concert are the Year of the Belarusian Woman and the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia,” the department head noted. “The program will be filled with authentic folk color, featuring ensembles and performers of traditional arts.”
Participants of the Union State concert are expected to include Ivan Dyatlov, Ibragim Karasov, Elena Kurskaya, Pyotr Yelfimov, the Nizhny Novgorod folk song and dance ensemble Lyubava, the Nadezhdina State Academic Choreographic Ensemble Beryozka, and others.
The national holiday Kupala Night Festival (Alexandria Gathers Friends) will take place in the agro-town of Alexandria on 11 July. The festival will open its doors to guests at 11:00.
