Applications open for Listapad Film Festival 2015

MINSK, 17 March (BelTA) - The applications are open for the 22nd edition of the Minsk International Film Festival Listapad which will be running from 6 to 13 November 2015, BelTA learned from the organizers of the festival.

The festival’s competition includes 3 sections: feature films; documentaries; and children and youth films competition Listapadzik.

The festival is open to the films made over the past two years. Applications are accepted until 6 September.

The main competition is open to the of full-length feature films, made in one of the post-Soviet countries or the country of the post-socialistic block, and mentioned or awarded at international film festivals.

The debut films competition “Youth on the March” is open to a full-length feature film which is the first or the second work in a director’s filmography.

The main documentary competition is open to full-length, medium and short documentaries shot in one of the post-Soviet countries or in the country of post-socialistic block acclaimed by experts and public.

The competition of the national film schools is open to various film schools, students’ or graduate film projects.

Any film shot or produced by Belarusians in Belarus or abroad may participate in the National Film Competition.

The children and youth film competition Listapadzik also accepts full-length feature and animation works.

The international jury of cinematographers decides on the main prizes of the festival – Golden Listapad and Silver Listapad. Audience choice award is presented as Bronze Listapad.

Every year Listapad has more than 150 participating movies from more than 45 countries, more than 200 screenings at 6 venues annually. Q&A between audience and film directors follows most of the screenings. The main program is accompanied by workshops and retrospectives. Around 40,000 people and more than 100 special guests from the film industry attend the festival annually.

Minsk International Film Festival Listapad is the most prestigious film festival in Belarus. The festival is held annually in November. FIAPF has accredited Listapad as a film festival for films produced in Baltic and Central-Asian countries, Central and Eastern Europe and Russia. The founders of the festival are the Culture Ministry of the Republic of Belarus and the Minsk City Hall.
