VIBTESK, 16 August (BelTA) - Famous fashion historian Alexandre Vassiliev will give a lecture to staff of the light industry enterprises of Vitebsk, BelTA learned from Deputy Chairperson of the Vitebsk City Council Zinaida Korolyova.

“Vitebsk is home to a lot of light industry enterprises, and the University of Technology, which trains specialists for the entire country. This is the target audience of the first lecture of the famous fashion historian,” said Zinaida Korolyova. She stressed that the lecture by Alexandre Vassiliev in Vitebsk will pursue not entertaining but educational purposes.

At the same time Zinaida Korolyova believes that a meeting with the famous fashion historian will be useful for all residents of Vitebsk. “The city has an unofficial status as the cultural capital of Belarus, and we must do our best to live up to this status in everything, including in clothes,” said Zinaida Korolyova.

Alexandre Vassiliev, the Russian and French fashion historian, collector, interior decorator, stage designer, author of popular books and articles, a lecturer, a TV host, Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, will arrive in Vitebsk on 11 September. He will give a three-hour lecture in the Vitebsk Concert Hall.
