Belarus first in CIS to use new cutting-edge technology for AAA treatment
Belarusian surgeons operated on two patients together with their Dutch colleagues on 22 March. New-type stent-grafts were placed at the site of the aneurysm. “This is an absolutely new device, the most advanced technology available,” noted Valery Stelmashok, the head of the laboratory of emergency and interventional cardiology at the National Cardiology Research Center...

Yanka Kupala theater to tour China in autumn
In 2016, Yanka Kupala theater joined the Silk Road International League of Theaters as part of China’s Silk Road initiative uniting 65 countries. In autumn, the theater plans to go on tour to Beijing. At the moment, the sides are discussing the playbill for the tour which will consist of six performances. The Belarusian theater has also been invited to partake in the festival of national theaters in Lvov in November. The theater is going to show Pinsk Gentry there...

Belarusian swimmers win 12 medals at Serbian Open Championships
Aleksandra Gerasimenya of Belarus finished first in the women’s 50m freestyle in 25.36 seconds. Second was fellow Belarusian Yulia Khitraya, clocking 26.01 seconds. Aleksandra Gerasimenya was also the first to touch the wall in the women’s 50m backstroke (28.14 seconds). Belarus to join WWF’s Earth Hour on 25 March
Minskers will be invited to turn off their lights from 20.30 to 21.30. The city will switch off the lighting of administrative buildings, homes, and architectural monuments. The annual Earth Hour campaign engages over two billion people in 7,000 cities and towns in 170 countries. People are free to decide which appliances to switch off and for how long, and the city authorities initiate turning off the illumination of municipal buildings...
