7 medals for Belarus at 2017 World Games

Yekaterina Galkina of Belarus bagged two bronze medals in the Ball and Ribbon routinesMINSK, 27 July (BelTA) – Belarusian athletes have won seven medals in the first week of the 2017 World Games in Wroclaw, Poland, BelTA has learned.

Water skier Natalia Berdnikova claimed gold. Dmitry Gavrilov clinched gold in the Finswimming Bi Fins 100m Men and bronze in the Finswimming Bi Fins 50m Men. In the rhythmic gymnastics Yekaterina Galkina bagged two bronze medals in the Ball and Ribbon routines.

Acrobatic gymnasts Artur Belyakov and Olga Melnik were second in the Mixed Pair event. One more silver was claimed by Yulia Ivonchik, Veronika Nabokina and Karina Sandovich in the Women’s Group.

The World Games, held once in four years, are meant for sports, or disciplines or events within a sport, that are not contested in the Olympic Games. The 2017 World Games are held for the tenth time from 20 to 30 July 2017 in Wroclaw, Poland. The program includes 37 sport disciplines.
