Pisanka Festival in Grodno District

The village of Sopotskin, Grodno District, hosted an exposition of family Easter traditions at the Pisanka Festival (a pisanka is a decorated Easter egg). Virtually all families in the village were gearing up for the Catholic Easter, blessed baskets with foodstuffs in churches on Holy Saturday, and decorated Easter eggs called pisankas which have been known far beyond the village.
