Two gold medals for Belarus at FIG Puurs World Cup

Two gold medals for Belarus at FIG Puurs World CupMINSK, 16 February (BelTA) – The Belarusian national sports acrobatics team won two gold medals at the FIG Acro World Cup in Puurs, Belgium, BelTA has learned.

Belarus’ Margarita Bartashevich and Viktoria Mikhnovich finished first in the Women’s Pairs with the total of 27,690 points. Second were Belgium’s Laurie Philpott and Natascha Van Es with 27,620 points, with third place going to Maren Merwarth and Jessica Renteria of the United States (26,110). One more gold medal went to the Belarusian Women’s Trio of Yekaterina Borisevich, Veronica Nabokina and Karina Sandovich who scored the total of 27,950 points to leave behind the teams from the UK (27,240) and the United States (26,690).

In the Men’s Pairs silver medalists of 2014 Yevgeny Novikov and Ilya Rybinsky of Belarus finished third with the total of 26,920 points. Belgium’s Arne van Gelder and Vincent Casse won the event with 28,030 points. Russia’s Alexei Yakovlev and Daniil Kuzmin finished second with 27,230 points. In the Mixed Pairs Belarus’ Konstantin Yevstafyev and Anna Kasyan finished fourth (27,380).

The second leg of the FIG Acrobatic Gymnastics World Cup 2016 will take place in Maia, Portugal on 4-6 March. The 2016 Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships are scheduled for 1-3 April in Putian, China.
