Mass Media in Belarus expo opens in Minsk

MINSK, 3 May (BelTA) – The 21st edition of the international exhibition Mass Media in Belarus has opened in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

Nearly 100 participants have confirmed their readiness to take part in the expo. The forum will feature Belarusian news agencies, editors' offices, and media publishing houses. Among the invitees are Chinese and Russian mass media. The forum will showcase the Union State publications and also materials circulated among the Belarusian diaspora in Lithuania, Latvia, Ukraine, and Russia

The conference Mass Media in the Changing World: Professionalism and Responsibility will be one of the central events to highlight information security.

Belarusian printed media, TV channels and news agencies will display their projects at the expo. Regional publications will be widely presented as well. The stands will showcase the themes such as Year of Science in Belarus, 500 years of the Belarusian book printing, anniversaries of the Belarusian cities. Belaruskaya Dumka magazine is expected to host a roundtable session “The role of mass media in ideological processes” on 3 May. Attending the event will be experts, and the magazine workers.

Winners of the national print media competition Zolotaya Litera (Golden Letter) will be honored as part of the expo. Apart from that there will also be named the winners of the nationwide competition on the best printed media retail facility, the national contest among journalists and mass media outlets for the best coverage of the interethnic and inter-denominational relations, intercultural dialogue in Belarus and cooperation with compatriots abroad, the competition for the best media coverage of the activity of the interior bodies and troops of the Interior Ministry to mark 100 years of the Belarusian police, the international contest of scientific student works in print technologies and media communications “500 years of book printing on the East Slavic lands”.

Mass Media in Belarus expo

The 21st international expo Mass Media in Belarus will take place at 14 Pobeditelei Avenue in Minsk on 3-6 May. The event will present the history of mass media in Belarus with the help of the country’s oldest periodical publications and display cutting-edge communication technologies. It will also showcase ways of distributing diverse and relevant high-quality information through all communication channels, first of all, by multimedia companies.

The Mass Media in Belarus expo is organized by the Belarusian Information Ministry and the National Exhibition Center Belexpo with the support of Minsk City Hall, the National TV and Radio Company, the Union of Publishers and Distributors of Printed Products, the House of Press, and the Belarusian Union of Journalists.

Lukashenko sends greetings to participants of Mass Media in Belarus exhibition

MINSK, 3 May (BelTA) - Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has sent greetings to the participants, guests and organizers of the 21st edition of the international exhibition Mass Media in Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“This large-scale event is very popular in our society. The annual demonstration of opportunities of national mass media is a convincing evidence of their big potential,” the message of greetings reads.

The head of state mentioned the traditional participation of foreign mass media representatives in the exhibition. “I am convinced that discussions, round tables, master classes of leading journalists will promote the development of business and creative contacts in mass media,” Alexander Lukashenko stressed.
