MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) – The CIS must become a political and economic center of power, a platform of large-scale projects, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he met with heads of delegations partaking in the 16th meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Supreme Audit Institutions on 7 June, BelTA has learned.
“The Commonwealth of Independent States must become not just a comfortable platform for a comprehensive negotiating process but a political and economic center of power, a platform of large-scale joint projects in various areas,” the head of state said.
The CIS will mark its 25th anniversary in December 2016, the President remarked. “It would be great to see this jubilee to give a consolidating effect to the CIS activity, to open up new historical horizons,” the President said.
