Lukashenko, Senko discuss customs cooperation with Russia

Lukashenko, Senko discuss customs cooperation with Russia

MINSK, 30 January (BelTA) – Belarus’ customs cooperation with Russia and the situation in the customs sector in general were discussed at the meeting between Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and Chairman of the State Customs Committee Yuri Senko on 30 January, BelTA has learned.

“Please tell me about the plans that have been fulfilled by the Customs Committee, the current situation and problems in the customs sector. The second question is the cooperation with the Russian Federation,” the head of state said.

Alexander Lukashenko asked Yuri Senko if Russians have any complaints about the corresponding work on the territory of Belarus. “You understand, first of all, this pertains to sanctioned goods,” the president said.

“There have been statements in the press and certain officials complained about Belarusian shrimps, caviar, other products. But it is very good that Belarusian factories started to produce black and red caviar. It is great! Yes, it is produced in artificial conditions, but it is as good as natural caviar,” the head of state said.

“However, I want an objective opinion. What can we do to reduce the number of complaints from Russians? How is our cooperation with Russia developing in this field? The external border of the Union State is located near Brest, it is not near Smolensk. And this border is operational,” Alexander Lukashenko added.
