Lukashenko sends Victory Day greetings to foreign leaders

MINSK, 9 May (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has sent felicitations to foreign leaders, prominent state figures and heads of integration associations on the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader. 

"Today, with a feeling of pride, gratitude and sorrow, we remember all those who gave us the future, who at the cost of the hardest ordeals, the loss of their loved ones or their own lives, defended their land from fascist slavery." Our grandfathers and great-grandfathers, showing their unbending character, courage and sacrifice, performed a great feat. They showed an example of true patriotism, unconditional love for the homeland. “Great Victory was added to the pages of the common history thanks to the power of unity and cohesion of the peoples,” says the letter of congratulations to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Alexander Lukashenko sent congratulatory letters to President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, President Armen Sarkissianof Armenia, President Giorgi Margvelashvili of Georgia, President Nursultan Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan, President Sooronbay Zheenbekov of Kyrgyzstan, President Igor Dodon of Moldova, President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow of Turkmenistan, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan, and the President Petro Poroshenko of Ukraine.

The Belarusian head of state also extended greetings to Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia Valentina Matviyenko, Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of Russia Vyacheslav Volodin, and Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.

The letters of congratulations on the Victory Day were also sent to Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee – CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev, State Secretary of the Union State Grigory Rapota, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Tigran Sargsyan, Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Yuri Khachaturov.

The Belarusian head of state has also been receiving Victory Day greetings from foreign leaders and political figures.
