MINSK, 7 July (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has sent greetings to the participants of the festive event held to celebrate the 135th anniversary of the birth of People’s Poet of Belarus Yanka Kupala, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.
“The star of Yanka Kupala has risen in a life-changing period of history when Belarus was making its first steps toward statehood. Thanks to the power of his talent, the poet determined the development path of the Belarusian language and culture, and laid out spiritual milestones for many generations. Therefore, we, the citizens of the sovereign country, are proud of Yanka Kupala’s legacy and are doing our best to promote and preserve it for our descendants,” the message of greetings reads.
The head of state expressed confidence that the events marking the poet’s birthday will strengthen unity of the society and celebrate creative talents of the Belarusian people.
