Lukashenko: Every effort is made to maintain peace, concord in Belarus

MINSK, 29 October (BelTA) - The state makes every effort to maintain peace and concord on the Belarusian soil, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said during a meeting with BRSM representatives on 29 October, BelTA has learned.

“The state makes every effort to maintain peace and concord on our land,” Alexander Lukashenko said. “Your task is not to give a slightest chance to attempts to use your mind, intellect and energy for destructive purposes. You are creators. You should be. This is your genetic code. Nature and heredity put in each of you great inner strength of good. This is what differs us, the Slavs, from many others,” he added.

The president noted that all the facts related to the development milestones of the Komsomol movement are well-established. They cannot be misinterpreted or concealed. They will forever remain in history. “But the notions of friendship, brotherhood, unity, love of country and faith in the future, which the Komsomol promoted, have not lost their relevance 100 years on. Therefore, when the Soviet Union collapsed and the new nations rejected the glorious history of the Komsomol, we picked up its banner and handed it over to our children. Our achievement is that we have preserved our youth organization, albeit in another form, under another name. We were the first to take this path. Today we are followed by others, including by huge Russia that also came to understand this,” Alexander Lukashenko noted.

When setting up its youth organization, Belarus relied on the continuity and historical memory, said Alexander Lukashenko. “You must know and remember that you are the heirs of the heroes. We should be worthy of their memory. We must keep the truth about the heroic past, pass it to the younger generations and then their children, preserve peace and unity bequeathed to us by the Komsomol. We must continue their efforts - live and work for the happiness and well-being of future generations,” the president added.

Alexander Lukashenko noted that Belarus has built a strong, sovereign state, preserved the best achievements of the past era so that the new generations should grow up in a peaceful, independent country, know their roots, understand traditions and respect history.

“We have raised a good generation. Unfortunately, the world has not become a better place, in a global and moral sense. The struggle between good and evil never stops. It penetrates the spiritual, social, economic and political sectors. It is done through books, media, films, advertising, fashion. This is the front with no fire but the aim to defeat through minds of people. This is the most dangerous and the most terrible thing,” said Alexander Lukashenko.

To keep one’s morals and peace in such a battle is quite an achievement, the head of state stressed. In his words, the task of young people is to uphold the highest ideals of honesty and justice, traditional spiritual values in the world of skeptics and cynics, in the world of conflicts and wars which came too close to Belarus’ borders. “Our task is to save our land from shocks, otherwise we and our children will have nowhere to live,” the president said.

“If we take a look at the chronology of well-known tragic events, we will see that everything started from the targeted manipulation of the minds of young people. The youth was always involved in the process because young people, whatever good they are, are inexperienced and still lack the vital force they gain over time,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
