MINSK, 28 March (BelTA) – Discipline and order make the foundation of everything, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he appointed new heads of local executive bodies on 28 March, BelTA has learned.
Four district administrations in Minsk are getting new heads. In this regard, the president drew the attention to the situation in the Belarusian capital and emphasized the need for ideal order in the city, especially in the light of the upcoming large international sport events. “Minsk should get financial and economic benefits from these events. But, first, we need to create good conditions,” said Alexander Lukashenko.
The president mentioned the forthcoming celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazis.
“Minsk should be made a comfortable city for people to live in. Discipline and order should be the basis of everything. Please, leave aside demagogy about the market and its ability to regulate everything, about the market economy being salvation for us and so on. This is true. I do not deny it. But discipline and order should make the basis of everything, in order to avoid the things we have recently had in Mogilev Oblast," the head of state said.
According to the president, the Belarusian capital has already developed a very good image. “Not only Minsk residents but also visitors speak well of Minsk. They say that it is pleasant to visit the clean and well-groomed capital of Belarus, which has everything necessary for life. But we cannot stop at this,” he said.
Alexander Lukashenko warned that responsible for the situation in the capital will not be only the mayor and the president’s aide, but, first of all, the heads of the districts. “You are the people who are on the front line. Minsk dwellers want to earn decently, support their family and raise children. That means that you are responsible for addressing the basic issues of Minsk residents,” the head of state said.
The president also focused on the importance of outreach activities. “People need to be shown and set a task. There is no other way,” stressed the Belarusian leader. Alexander Lukashenko cited an example of keeping outdoor areas clean and well-cared. He stressed that this should be done with an active participation of the community. “No budget resources are envisaged for keeping Minsk clean. This work is yours and your labor collectives, all those who use roads and parks. People will accept that responsibility. They just need to be called and shown what needs to be done,” the head of state said.
“Those who do not understand will be made to do this. You have enough powers for this. I will never reprimand you for being too demanding on your people. It just needs to be done humanly,” the Belarusian leader added.
“I would like to reiterate that requirements will only be increasing. You have not seen anything extraordinary or extravagant over the years. I have always worked like this. I have preserved this style. I know what the order in the city or in the village is. That is why I demand it from you. I will never accept a mess in my country. You should understand this,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
The head of state also said that every condition has been created in Belarus for the opportunity to work and implement the assigned tasks: “Nobody is pressing you. There are no gangsters, swindlers. No one threatens you. So, act. Then everything will be fine.”
Speaking about order and discipline, Alexander Lukashenko mentioned the upcoming political events in Belarus. “I am waiting for results. I am not talking about those political events. I have already talked about it. We must show results over these two years. I wish you every success in this,” the Belarusian leader said.
